GINGER (BOYD) DAVIS

Posted

On January 26, 2024, Ginger (Boyd) Davis succumbed to a second bout of cancer in the comfort of her own home surrounded by beloved family, friends, and pets. Born in Lebanon, Mo. in 1950 to the late Golda (Vincent) and Norman Boyd, she lived in several locations before marrying Thomas Davis and settling in Conway, Mo. to be near her favorite uncle, the late Eugene Vincent. Married 54 years, she was a homemaker in the truest sense. Although she only had one biological daughter, Jennifer (Davis) Childs, and one biological grandson, Adrian Childs, she was a mother and grandmother in spirit to numerous people over the years. Her home was open to children and animals that showed up on her doorstep needing care. If she knew your birthday, you were getting a card, if not your favorite homemade treat. She was a wonderful cook. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, she maintained connections with her best friends until her death. She was generous and passionate about helping others. She often preferred to do so quietly or anonymously. She was a talented folk artist and gardener. She loved to read, relax to a nightly Bravo show, take in a live concert, visit museums, watch college basketball, and entertain people in her home or around her pool. The Southern lilt in her voice during an intimate conversation and her fresh iced tea cannot be replaced.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Davis; her daughter, Jennifer Childs; Jennifer’s son, Adrian Childs, and Jennifer’s life partner, Robert Hollandsworth; her sisters, Denise (Walters) Meiling and Ramona (Boyd) Hall; and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Boyd; mother, Golda Walters; stepfather, Charlie Walters; stepmother, Emma Boyd; brother, Mike Boyd; and stepbrother, Chuck Walters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Conway Senior Center located at 105 W. Jefferson St., Conway, Mo. 65632. Instead of sending flowers, you can donate in her honor to the Conway Senior Center, Watching over Whiskers (www.watchingoverwhiskers.org), or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
