George Sharron Franks, 87, of Galva, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon.
She was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lester Franklin and Avis Marie Mathis Roberts.
In 1953, she married Hubert Donnelly Franks, and they shared 60 years before his passing in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
George was born and raised in Texas and worked for a few years for Goodyear Tires. She had earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and had a career in education for 37 years. She had taught in Henry County, Ill. for several years, and then taught at the elementary school in Wethersfield, Ill. for 25 years. She and Hubert had a mobile home close to Bennett Spring near Lebanon, where they spent the winters.
Survivors include her son Justin Franks of Galva, Ill.; as well as her two sisters, Mary Grant and her husband Patrick of Houston, Texas, and Sandra Bowman and her husband Wallie of Helotes, Texas, along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for George Sharron will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Greg Turner officiating. A visitation will follow the service on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.
