Full Story: County Commission approves bids

The Laclede County Commission opened bids, approved bids, and, in one case, tabled bids during their Tuesday morning meeting at the Laclede County Government Center.

The County Commission opened bids for a jail lock system, a trash and sanitation service for the county, an exterminating service, and two new police patrol cars for the Sheriff’s Office.

The first approved bid was for a jail lock system, referred to in previous coverage as a jail control system for the county’s jail.

The only bid was from Cornerstone -- the company the county had worked with to fix the jail’s computer and system following a power surge, who the county’s maintenance supervisor, Mike Horton, had previously mentioned now had the county’s old program and who had given an alternate upgrade proposal discussed in the Oct. 29 meeting.

After Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst noted the published waiver of formal bidding, the County Commission approved the sole bid from Cornerstone for $24,850 with consideration to an optional onsite technician for installation and certification ($6,500).

The Laclede County Commission also approved a trash and sanitation bid from GFL Environmental ($417.70 monthly with no overage or environmental charges for three years, Laclede County Clerk Linda Cansler later confirmed).

The County Commission later approved an exterminating bid from Cansler Pest Control ($2,100 annually).

The commission opened two bids for new police SUVs – from Ed Morse Ford Lebanon and Broadway Ford out of St. Louis (Cansler later confirmed) – were tabled until the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office could review them further and give a recommendation.

An additional bid (Graven Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lebanon) arrived late, and Cansler later said it could not be considered.
During routine business, the commission approved a court order for a worker compensation distribution adjustment.

The meeting ended following a seconded (unvoted upon) motion to adjourn.
