Filing concluded Tuesday for the April municipal elections. Below are some of the filings for county elections. The Record will have a full listing once county certification ends in January.
Three seats are up for election on the Lebanon City Council. This week, Jeremy Goforth filed for Ward 1. Previously filing for the seat were Jeff Stokes, Jaret Scharnhorst and Randy Haefner.
Filing in Lebanon Ward 2 were the incumbent, Sheila Mitchell, and Joe Berkich. Jeff Mutchler filed for re-election to his Ward 3 seat. Chuck Jordan filed for re-election to his seat in Ward 4.
Mark Rector filed for municipal judge. Douglas B. Kinde filed for re-election as city attorney.
Four candidates have filed for three open seats on the Lebanon R-3 School Board. Filing as of Thursday were the incumbents Charlie Darnell and Mary Russell. Also filing were Jina Richardson and Craig Blair.
As for the three Joel E. Barber C-5 School Board seats (which are three years terms), superintendent Rachelle Jennings wrote that only three candidates had filed: Aaron Semsch (incumbent), Jacob “Jake” Lamkins and Robert “Bob” Hall (incumbent) have filed.
Since there are only three filed candidates, Jennings said that meant board secretary Jean Domingue will turn in the paperwork for no April election. The candidates will be sworn in at the school board’s April 16 meeting.
In the Laclede County R-1 School District, school board secretary and treasurer Kimberly Shelton said the following people had filed in the three-seat school board election: Courtney Gunter, Kevin Dampier, Jarid Jensen, John Boyles, Scott Owens, and Ricky Savage.
According to the district’s website, Gunter and Owens are incumbents.
As for the Gasconade C-4 Board of Education’s open seats, superintendent Jared O’Quinn said there were two seats up for election and one vacancy. He said three candidates had filed: Mitchell Anthony (an incumbent), Dakota Armstrong, and Paul Porter. There will not be an election, he said.
Cari Pendegrass, chief financial officer and school board secretary for Stoutland R-II School District said that the only three candidates to file for the district’s three vacant school board seats were incumbents Joshua Kincaid, Shawn Henson, and Melissa Miller. There would thus not be an election.
Stoutland City Clerk Vicki Morrow said that the two seats on Stoutland’s city council had been filed for by Casin Thomas and Jared Morrow, both incumbents. An election on the two seats would thus not be necessary.
Candidate filing closed on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Election day will be April 7. Laclede County Clerk Linda Cansler said county certification of election candidates and issues end on Jan. 27.
The Record will provide information on other area election matters in future issues.
