The heat advisories yesterday and Thursday have made the weather a hot topic of conversation as well as the ways to endure it. That is important because excessive heat can kill. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, an average of 702 deaths occurs each year in the U.S. along with over 67,000 emergency room visits and over 9,000 hospital stays on average. While many have air conditioning in their homes, others are not so lucky. Heat takes its toll on them physically and mentally. Luckily, The Free Store looks to help people in many ways.
