FRANCIS (LEE) BROWN

Posted

Francis (Lee) Brown, 89, of Acton, Maine, formerly of Lebanon, passed on at home Friday, Feb. 5.

He and his wife Etta (who passed on in 2019) of 52 years had relocated to Maine to be with their daughter Denise, son-in-law Joseph, and twin grandsons Gunnar and Quinn.

Lee was one of ten children in a close-knit family. Theirs was a family of musicians and dancers, and Lee was no exception, having danced only weeks before his passing. He could still be found most often outside—mowing the lawn, tending the garden, plowing snow, resting on the swing watching for wildlife, or on his tractor moving a new crop of Maine rocks. On quiet evenings, the house would suddenly fill with the sound of him playing a tune on one of his numerous harmonicas—a sound that will be sorely missed.

Lee leaves behind one sister, Florine, 98 of Lebanon; three grandchildren of Maine and North Carolina; three great-grandchildren of North Carolina and Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews of the Lebanon area, all of whom were a great support to him.

There will be a private service in Maine, as well as a memorial service later in the spring at Bilderback Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, any gifts may be given to the Bilderback Cemetery Fund at Mid-Missouri Bank.
