FRANCES "FRANNY" BRACKETT

Frances Marie “Franny’’ Phippenney Brackett, 85, of Richland, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, in Richland.

She was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Superior, Wis. to John H. and Nancy M. Phippenney.

On Nov. 17, 1983, she was united in marriage to James Brackett.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Jeremiah Brackett; one brother, John A. Phippenney; one sister, Ida Mae Perkins; and two nephews, Curtis Barber and Kevin Dwight Perkins.

Frances’s first job was at Ketner’s Department Store in Lebanon. Her excellent bookkeeping skills soon became known and she went on to work at a number of places over the years including SP Gas, Independent Stave, Stoutland Schools, Toledo Goldfish, the city of Richland and PlayCraft/Charger Boats. She was at PlayCraft/Charger for over thirty years where the Dorris’ became like family.

She was a longtime, active and faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church.

Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, James; one sister, Roberta K. Barber (Clarence); daughters and sons, Beth Barnes Bedinghaus (Matt), John Barnes (Carol), Jimmy Brackett (Sheila) and Janet York (Richard); seven grandchildren, Stephanie Bedinghaus Turcato (Casey), Alex Bedinghaus, Rebecca Odom (Justin), Jessie Burns (Cole), Charlotte Waters (Luke), Cassandra Anthony (Brett) and Christie Chastain (James); twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler Money (Cheyenne), Cora Grace Turcato, Lexi and Jaxon Burns, Hunter and Jacob Waters, Aiden and Alex Anthony, Bryan, Braydon, Bryce and Brystol Chastain; two great-great-grandchildren, Neveah and Jersey Money; nieces and nephews, Lisa Rainey (Victor), Lori Rogers (David), Jeffery Barber (Rhonda) and Robin Perkins.

Funeral services for Frances “Franny’’ Brackett will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Eureka Baptist Church with Pastors Doug Jacobson and David Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Wair Chapple Cemetery, near Richland. Visitation for Franny was at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Franny have been suggested to Wair Chapple Cemetery. Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
