Fort Leonard Wood cancels family day activities, bars public from graduations

Posted

Starting next week (March 16), Fort Leonard Wood will cancel all family day activities and graduations will no longer be open to families or the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Public Affairs Office.

“We understand these changes disrupt the plans many people have made and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please know, we did not make this decision lightly. We are being proactive and vigilant by adjusting our procedures to protect our Soldiers and their loved ones.

We are working with the units to provide the opportunity for family members and loved ones to view graduations virtually. Please continue to monitor social media for any updates as more information becomes available.

The command’s primary focus is on the health, welfare and safety of our service members, civilians and families. Currently, there are zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Fort Leonard Wood, and we will continue to follow the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect our community,” the Public Affairs Office said in a Facebook post on March 10.
