A former youth baseball board member and assistant coach has been charged with having sex with a child.
Michael Gene Bowman Jr., 47, has been charged with statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy (deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years old) and two counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy. Bowman is being held in the Laclede County Jail with bond denied, according to court records.
The investigation into the alleged crimes was conducted by the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office.
Bowman is a former member of the United States Specialty Sports Association youth baseball board. He also formerly served as an unpaid baseball assistant coach for Joel E. Barber.
