ELERY HARRISON BERRY

Elery Harrison Berry, 94, of Lebanon, died Monday, May 22, 2023, in Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Lebanon to William and Liza Jane Chastain Berry.

On Nov. 29, 1947 he was united in marriage to Susie Mae Young.

Those preceding him in death include his parents; his wife Susie in 2011; one daughter, Edna Martin; two grandsons, Jason Marymee and Jim Guffey; five brothers, Grant, Floyd, Johnnie, William and Claudie; two sisters, Nancy and Edna.

Elery lived in Kansas City where he worked at the American Can Company for over 25 years. He then returned to the Lebanon community in 1976 where he purchased a salvage yard. He named it Berry’s Auto Salvage. In 1986, he moved to Camdenton, where he worked at Lake Park Marine until his retirement.

He made a profession of faith in Christ while attending Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone in 1964.

Elllery is survived by one son, Danny Berry of Washington, Ill.; four daughters, Linda Verschelden and her husband John of Lebanon; Sharon Marymee and her husband Tim of Kansas City; Dorothy Guffey and her husband Greg of Kearney, and Pamela Miller and her husband Larry of Urbana; one sister, Agnes Cogar of New York; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Elery Harrison Berry will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Dustin Allcorn officiating. Burial will be in Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time also on Friday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested to Flatwoods Cemetery. (Please make checks payable to Flatwoods Cemetery).
