Editor’s note: The following report contains some details that may be too gruesome for readers. However, we felt that they were necessary in telling the full extent of the alleged crimes committed. A several months long Laclede County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the murder of a Marshfield man in October 2020 has come to an end with an Eldridge man behind bars facing felony charges. Shane Patrick Norman, 30, of Eldridge, has been arrested and charged in the killing and dismemberment of Nathan Andrew Young, 33, who hailed from Marshfield at the time of his death but was formerly from Laclede County. Norman has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action by the Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Norman is being held in the Laclede County Jail with bond denied. He is next scheduled to be in court on March 29 for a case review, according to court records. “This had been a long, but very detailed investigation. We have presented a solid case to the Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office,” Sheriff David Millsap said in an email to local media. “The family has been supportive of our investigative efforts and understanding the thoroughness in which we have put this case together over a period of time.” For more on this story see Saturday's LCR.
