Eileen Riley, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Lebanon, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, in Springfield.
She was born June 13, 1934, in Climax Springs, Mo. to Walter F. and Leona F. Taylor Jones.
On Nov. 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph Edmond “Ed’’ Riley.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband, Ed; her daughter, Linda Rhoads; son-in-law, Jim Rhoads; sister and brother-in-law, Emojean “Jean’’ and Elmer Boggs; and sister-in-law, Helen Jones.
Eileen graduated from Lebanon High School. After her two children started school, Eileen went to work for H.D. Lee Company as a seamstress. Once the factory closed, Eileen began working for Lebanon Schools in food service at the cafeteria, where she remained for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and tending to her gardens, both flower and vegetable. However, time spent and memories shared with her family is what she treasured most.
She was a longtime active and faithful member of Hayes Street Church of Christ.
Eileen leaves to celebrate her home going, one son Stephen Riley and his wife Tammy of Springfield; one brother, Wayne Jones of Waynesville; one sister, Carol Appleby and her husband Dave of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Jay Rhoads, Aaron Rhoads, Ethan Riley, Caleb Riley and Ryan Riley and his wife Jeana; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Noah, Titus, Lucius, Cyrus, Liam and Kathryn; other relatives; church family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Jeremy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
