EDDIE BASNETT

Eddie Basnett, 82, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Lebanon, Mo. to Homer and Edith Mae Dickinson Basnett.

On Sept. 24, 1961, he married Willa Mae Brubaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Ray Basnett.

Eddie graduated from Lebanon High School. He was employed with Detroit Tool from 1955 until his retirement in 2004. He loved his job and found it interesting and challenging as he oversaw several different departments. Through the years he held many positions, including supervisor over special machines, sales and estimating engineer and also application engineer.

He grew up attending Highland Park Church of God and in later years attended First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Willa Mae Basnett; one son, Jimmie Basnett and his wife Christina of Lebanon; two daughters, Debbie Johnson and her husband Billy of Springfield, and Stephanie Embry and her husband Doyle of Lebanon; two brothers, Wayne Basnett and his wife Janice and Marvin Basnett and his wife Brenda, both of Lebanon; four sisters, Helen Cochrane and her husband Dick, Shirlee Roberts and her husband Charlie, and Linda Basnett, all of Lebanon, and Barbara Smith and her husband Bland of St. Robert; three granddaughters, Elaina Keen and her husband Luke, Isabella and Samantha Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Penelope Keen; other relatives and many dear friends.

A private graveside service and burial for Eddie Basnett will be held Thursday, March 26, 2020, at New Home Cemetery near Falcon with Bland Smith officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. There is no scheduled visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested for a scholarship fund in memory of Eddie. Memorials can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O.
