DOTTIE HICKS

Dottie Hicks, 91, of Long Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at her home.

She was born March 23, 1929, in Long Lane to Charley and Rhoda (Vest) Hanna.

On Dec. 6, 1946, she was married to Dean Hicks.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ricky Lee Hicks; her husband, Dean Hicks; four sisters, Lillian Howser, Wilma Sturdevant, Pat Grady, and Vivian Belt; one brother, Charles (Buck) Hanna; and one granddaughter, Mahaley Alene Hicks.

She worked side by side with Dean on their farm milking cows, taking care of cattle, and raising devoted sons. Dottie loved to visit with family and friends, and nobody ever left her house hungry! She was famous for her biscuits and gravy and when you dropped in on Sunday you could always find a pot of beans on the stove. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours sitting on the porch enjoying the view of the hill.

Dottie is survived by four sons and their families, Larry & wife Diana Hicks of Buffalo, Bill & wife Glenda Hicks of Long Lane, Donald & wife Lori Hicks of Buffalo, and Carl & wife Brenda Hicks of Long Lane; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Escorts will be Jon Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Calvin Hicks, Cory Hicks, Jeremy Wendlandt, Jason Wendlandt, Ben Reeves, and Gail Zimmerman. Honorary escorts will be Robert Strickland, Lyndol Sturdevant, Ronnie Stafford, and John Long. Interment will be in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
