Dorothy May Elam, 84, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, in Poplar Bluff.

She was born Jan. 10, 1937, in Laclede County, Mo. to Walter and Vina Gourley Bohannon.

On Dec. 11, 1954, she married Cleo Elam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cleo on Feb. 25, 2017; one sister, Fern Looney; and one brother, Jim Bohannon.

Dorothy worked many years as a certified nurse’s aide in hospitals and nursing homes. She also worked at Rice Stix and The Durham Company. After her retirement, she enjoyed bargain hunting at garage sales and collecting Home Interior dolls. However, time spent with her family is what she treasured most.

She is survived by three children, Diane Slavens and her husband Tommy, Dennis Elam and his wife Jeannie and Deanna Scrivener and her husband Mark, all of Lebanon; six grandchildren Michelle Frazier and her husband Tommy of Nixa; Michael Scrivener of Springfield; Lindsey Scrivener of Nashville, Tenn.; Denise Elam of Shawnee, Kan.; Barbie Chapman and her husband Reagan of Brownwood, Texas and Brittany Lyman and her husband Zach of Lebanon; two great-grandchildren, Joslyn Chapman and Bryson Lyman; three siblings, Dolly Hayes, Florence Ruble and Barbara Decker and her husband Vergil, all of Lebanon; other relatives and many friends

A graveside service and burial for Dorothy May Elam was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at Roper Cemetery near Morgan with the Rev. Gary Sheets officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation was at 11:30 a.m. until departure for the cemetery also on Monday in the funeral chapel.
