DNR investigates house fire

Posted

The Department of Natural Resources is investigating a controlled burn of debris that spread to a vacant trailer house July 21 at the intersection of Route F and Iowa Road.
Ashton Stamper, an environmental specialist with the DNR, happened to be traveling on Interstate 44 in the Sleeper area when she spotted a column of black smoke and investigated.
“As for home owners, we tell them you can burn anything that’s (normally) put in your kitchen or bathroom trash can, but you can’t burn shingles. You can’t burn structures to the house, siding, furniture, tires, carpet, those types of things,” Stamper said.
