Denny Wayne Massey, 78, of Grovespring, died Sunday, May 7, 2023, in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Orla to Clifford and Ada McBride Massey.

Denny married Pamela Sue Weatherspoon.

Those preceding him in death include his parents; two brothers, Darrell and Lonnie Massey; one great-granddaughter, Sadie; grandma Ferriel; Treva Baker; and two brothers-in-law, Pete and Dwight Weatherspoon.

Denny worked as a presser at H.D. Lee for over 40 years. He served our country in the United States Army for a total of six years before his honorable discharge. He enjoyed hunting and completing word search puzzles. He also enjoyed watching all types of sports and westerns on television. However, time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren is what he treasured most.

He is survived by his wife Pamela “Sue’’ Massey; two daughters, Angie Prock and her husband Tony, and Marcy Todd and her husband Ronnie, all of Lebanon; siblings, Beulah Smithey and Shirlene Jones, both of Kansas City; Tommy Massey (Beverly), Linda Evans, and Janet Scott (Dennis), all of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Cody Prock (Kristin), Halie Goemaat (Timmy), Hope Fleetwood (Dalton), Dustin Todd and Alexis Welch (Zack); 12 great-grandchildren, Emmalyn, Avery, Ryker, Lucas, Colton, Hanley, Paisley, Rosalynn, Natalie, Oakley, Hannah and Willa; one aunt, Ruby Crain of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; mother-in-law, Sara Lear of Hammond, Ind.; Sue’s siblings and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Denny Wayne Massey will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with J.R. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested to Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery. Donations may be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, 1001 N. Lynn or P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
