DAVID “DAVE’’ WENDELL SHOEMAKER

David “Dave’’ Wendell Shoemaker, 84, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2023.

He was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Lenora, Kan. to Ronald and Louise Beck Shoemaker.

On Sept. 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Anne Carlin.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy on Nov. 21, 2020; his parents, and one sister, Carol Jones.

After graduating from high school, Dave joined the United States Air Force as an airplane maintenance mechanic, until his medical discharge due to an injury. He then went to work hauling mobile home trailers in Amarillo, Texas. Later, after obtaining his electronics certificate, he worked for Zenith Electronics, Ivey Roofing for a period of time and eventually as an appliance repairman at Montgomery Ward in Lebanon until the store closed. After the store closing, he opened his own appliance repair business, DBA aka 532-DAVE, until his retirement.

He was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church.

Survivors include his children, Mark Shoemaker and his wife Denise, David Shoemaker and his wife Janice, Chris Shoemaker and his wife Jodi, all of Lebanon, and Dawn Sampson and her husband Daniel of Dillsburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Brandon Shoemaker and his wife RaeAnn, Derek Shoemaker, Megan Semonis and her husband Sam, Ryan Shoemaker and his wife Danielle, Brooke McElvaney and her husband Levi, Austin Shoemaker, Aaron Shoemaker and his wife Brooke, Noah Sampson, Lyla Sampson and Allie Sampson; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Luanna Metzgar and her husband Karl of Las Cruces, N.M.; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service for David “Dave’’ Wendell Shoemaker will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at Southern Heights Christian Church with Larry Richardson and Ryan Shoemaker officiating. Private burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday also at Southern Heights Christian Church.
