CSM (Ret.) David Carmody Lay, age 93, of Waynesville, Mo., passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at Osage Beach Rehabilitation, in Osage Beach, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Tae Sun Lay of the home in Waynesville, Mo.; four children, David Lay (Pam) of Columbia, Mo., Karen Talley of Warrensburg, Mo., June Bales (J.D.) of Waynesville, Mo., and Brenda Stanton (Shawn Perry) of Waynesville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Steve Lay (Jamie) of Lafayette, Colo. Greg Lay of Fort Worth, Texas, Angie Fritsch (Dustin) of Warrensburg, Mo., Lauren Jackson (Justin) of Columbia, Mo., Courtney Bales (Halley) of Springfield, Mo., Jared Bales (Chrissy) of Fair Play, Mo., Matthew Stanton of Lebanon, Mo., Cheyenne Stanton of Richland, Mo., six great-grandchildren, Mason, Kadence, Larabee, Dean, Max and Josie; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. in Memorial Chapel.
