David Avery Posten, 67, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, in Lebanon.

He was born March 12, 1953, in Richland to Ralph and Velma Clark Posten.

On Sept. 15, 1984, he was married to Joanie Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Posten and one grandson, Grant Posten.

David graduated from Richland High School in 1971. He started a career in construction at the age of 15 years old with his father, Ralph Posten. They operated Posten Construction for many years. He then became employed with the Conservation Department, where he became a Superintendent of Construction. He was with the Department of Conservation for more than 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, tinkering with old cars and watching the races. However, time spent with his family is what he treasured most.

He was a member of the Hazelgreen Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Nathan Posten (Kama) of Ozark, Mo.; Kelly Posten (Sharon) of Kansas City, Mo. and Matthew Posten (Katie) of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Kimberly Jarvis (Buddie) of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Eddie Posten (Melinda) of Lebanon and Don Posten (Timothy) of Blue Springs, Mo.; one sister, Cora Mae Hake (Todd) of Blue Springs, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Ali, Abby, Conner, Brett, Wyatt, Hudson and Roman and baby girl, due in May 2021; two brothers-in-law, Gary Lewis (Jody) and Joe Lewis; one sister-in-law, Sharon Posten; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

There will be a private graveside service for David Avery Posten at Hazelgreen Cemetery under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

There is no scheduled visitation.
