The Laclede County Commission worked on plans to promote the April 7 use tax vote at its Tuesday morning meeting.
The county is asking voters to decide on a local use tax that would be the same rate as the current local sales tax, one and 3/16 percent. If the local sales tax is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax would be reduced or raised also.
A use tax return will not be required to be filed by persons whose purchases from out of state vendors do not in total exceed $2,000 in any calendar year.
