The Laclede County Commission heard funding requests Tuesday from the Hughes Senior Center and the Nebo-Falcon Fire District at a public hearing for the 2024 county budget. Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said he expects the county budget to be presented the first week in January. The budget has to be passed by about Jan. 19. He said the hearing allows members of the community to share their thoughts on how county funds should be spent. At Tuesday’s hearing, Chris Conger, Jeremy Garner and Patricia Chesnut of the Hughes Senior Center said the center is in need of financial help. For more on this story, see Wednesday's LCR.
