Coroner wants to use funds for morgue

Posted
The Laclede County Commission heard more applications for CARES funding at its Tuesday morning meeting, including a proposal from the coroner for a county morgue cooler. The county was awarded $4.2 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) funding. The money is to be used for expenses related to responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Coroner Steve Murrell said he had been discussing storage for COVID-19 fatalities with other agencies and that Laclede County is currently lacking storage space. He said Rolla has brought in another cooler because they had reached capacity. For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
