Connie Sue Rice, 55, of Lebanon, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, in Mercy Hospital Lebanon.

She was born Aug. 17, 1966, in Buffalo, Mo. to Paul and Dorothy Woods Higgins.

On May 19, 1983, she married Darren Rice and they shared 26 years before his death on Oct. 12, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cliff Higgins; and a sister, Deborah Huckaby.

Connie was born and raised in Buffalo, and attended Buffalo Schools. She fought for everything she had and worked hard hours in the maintenance department of hotels for several years. She still found time to be a devoted homemaker and great mother. She was kind of a mother hen to everyone but yet continued to have an adventurous spirit.

She is survived by two daughters, Amanda Richardson and her husband Jamie, and Tasha Lorenz and her fiance’ Bruce Crothers, all of Lebanon; a son, Rocky Higgins and his wife Misty of Marshfield; a son-in-law, John Roeder; seven grandchildren, Kylie Roeder, John Roeder III, Kinzie Roeder, Linzie Roeder, Michael Lorenz, and Matthew Braun; two brothers, Ronnie Higgins and his wife Chris of Springfield, and Larry Higgins of Lebanon; two sisters, Brenda Croak of Springfield, and Nancy Carter of Warsaw; a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Connie Sue Rice will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Allen Reeves officiating. Burial will be in the Plad Cemetery in Plad, Mo., under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
