City holds grand opening for park

The City of Lebanon celebrated the opening of the new Nelson Park next to Lebanon Middle School with a ceremony Friday afternoon.

The event included remarks from city officials and others involved with the park.

The park was originally set to be dedicated April 3, but that was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ground for the park was broken on July 30 and crews, including True Construction, worked through 83 days of rain for the past 304 days on the project.

Mayor Jared Carr said 2,500 dump trucks of dirt had to be moved for the park.

“When we first looked at this piece of property it looked really flat, no it wasn’t , where we’re at was actually 6 feet higher than over there by the road so we had to move all of that dirt down to that side of the field by Buzz Pride Road,” Carr said.
