The Lebanon City Council took action Monday to buy equipment for the police and fire departments.
The Council also approved the purchase of ballistic vests and helmets for the Fire Department. Fire Chief Sam Schneider said the purchase was funded by a 50/50 ARPA EMS grant from the Missouri Division of Public Safety.
He said current recommendations and operational methods during active shooter events no longer have Emergency Medical Service and fire personnel waiting for law enforcement to secure a building before entering to care for and remove wounded victims.
