CHARLES W. “CHARLIE’’ McWILLIAMS

Charles W. “Charlie’’ McWilliams, 83, of Lebanon, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, in Lebanon.

He was born March 31, 1937, in Cookville, Mo. to Fred V. and Thelma Matthews McWilliams, who preceded him in death.

Charlie graduated from Lebanon High School in 1953. He then attended St. Louis University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in commerce and finance in 1958. Charlie was a Certified Public Accountant for many years in St. Louis and Lebanon. He proudly served our country in the National Guard from November of 1958 until his honorable discharge in April of 1959. While in St. Louis, he worked as an accountant for Herbert A. Graham, CPA. Charlie also worked for Empire Gas, First National Bank, J. Arthur Mumford, CPA in Lebanon, and Dawson Metal Products in Camdenton. From 1970-1988, he was the CPA for Smith-Glynn-Callaway medical clinic in Springfield. Charlie then opened C.W. McWilliams CPA in Lebanon, where he worked until his retirement.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Lebanon from May of 1950 until June of 1967 where he served as deacon. He then transferred membership, while in Springfield to Brentwood Christian Church from January 1970 until January of 1990. When he moved back to the Lebanon community, he joined First Christian Church again, where he remained and served as deacon and treasurer.

Survivors include two sons, Michael McWilliams and his wife Barbara of Lebanon, and Charles David McWilliams of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Toni L. Lightner and her husband Mark of Springfield; one sister, Mary Lou Cowan of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jason Lightner, Jared Lightner and his wife Katherine and Taylor Conard and her husband Dustin; one great-granddaughter, Hadlee Conard; other relatives and many friends.

A private graveside service for Charles W. “Charlie’’ McWilliams will be held at a later date at Mount Rose Memorial Park. At his request, his body is to be cremated under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to First Christian Church or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O.
