Charles J.R. Newell, age 90, of Sleeper, Missouri entered his heavenly home on December 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Charles was born March 2, 1934, in Richland, Missouri; the son of John Homer Newell and Josephine (Godfrey) Newell.
Charles grew up around the Richland area and proudly served in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he started working at Ford Motor Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Charles married the love of his life, Katheryn Berry, on September 21, 1963, in Lebanon, Missouri. After working at Ford Motor Company for 35 years, he retired in 1992, and they purchased a farm in Sleeper. He greatly enjoyed his time working on his farm, especially when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there to help, and also working alongside the family mowing the hayfields.
Charles loved his family dearly and was always faithful in his devotion to them. He cherished his relationship with his Lord and Savior and was a devoted member of Prosperine Baptist Church. He had a kind and gentle soul, was slow to anger, and never met a stranger. He always had a story to tell and a joyous and warm smile and contagious laugh. He enjoyed his morning coffee and sharing it with anyone that came to visit. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
