Charles E. “Buster” Richardson, age 91, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born September 29, 1931, in Niangua, son of the late Charles and Alpha (Pointer) Richardson.

On Oct. 10, 1951, he was united in marriage to Gracie Helen Vaughan, who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2022.

Buster served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the 7th Infantry Division as a demolition expert. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 19, 1954.

Buster retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked in lawn care at the Rolling Hills Country Club. Buster drove a school bus for the Morgan County R-II School District for over twenty years.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5923 in Camdenton and was a volunteer fireman for the Versailles Rural Fire Department for many years.

He is survived by his children, Diana Conrad, Garry Richardson and wife Joyce and Rose Pickeral all of Versailles; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Richardson of Versailles; 15 grandchildren; 27great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Dwayne Richardson and wife Jeannie of Arkansas and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles C. Richardson, sons-in-law, Dorcy Conrad and Rodney Pickeral, three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, in the Versailles Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Spielman officiating and honors provided by the Versailles Rural Fire Department. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles Rural Fire Department.
