Charles Dwight Light, 86, of Brentwood, TN, died Monday, February 19, 2024 peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born July 1, 1937, in Oakland, MO to Olan and Clella Light.

On March 21, 1964, he married Farron May Massey in Lebanon, MO, and they shared 59 years of love and life together.

Charles was an Army veteran, serving from 1961-1963 in the Quartermaster Corps, and entertained his family with many stories of driving schoolchildren and dignitaries during his tour of duty with NATO forces outside Paris. He and Farron owned Charon Fabrics, a successful and popular fabric store and sewing machine dealership, in Rolla, MO for over 40 years, serving the mid-Missouri area. They retired to the Nashville, TN area in 2006 where he and Farron enjoyed travel and good times with their children and grandchildren, enjoying live country music entertainment, planning fun menus for holiday celebrations, cultivating a beautiful backyard, and fishing in his beloved Lund boat on Percy Priest Lake.

Charles was a devout Christian, and as an adult, a faithful member and volunteer for his First Baptist family in Rolla, MO, his First Methodist family in Nolensville, TN, and Graceworks Ministries activities throughout Williamson County, TN.

Survivors include his wife, Farron; two daughters, Anna Coats and her husband Stuart, of Louisville, KY, and Rebecca Fiechtl and her husband James of Brentwood, TN; and three grandchildren, Georgia Coats, William Fiechtl, and Patrick Fiechtl. He is also survived by two younger brothers, Robert and Michael Light.

In keeping with Charles’ giving spirit, in lieu of a funeral, his body has been donated to Vanderbilt University through the Anatomical Donation Program of the Office of Health and Sciences Education. Memorials are suggested to Graceworks Ministries, Inc., 104 Southeast Parkway, Suite 100, Franklin, TN 37064, https://www.graceworkstn.org.
