Laclede County still has nearly $300,000 available to help the local community with coronavirus-related expenses and until June 30 to distribute the funds. Originally, the federal funds had to be expended by Dec. 30, 2020. But the new relief legislation recently approved by Congress and signed by President Trump, extended the deadline, Laclede County Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said. “Two days ago we received information from the Governor’s Office that the State of Missouri extended the deadline to June 30, 2021,” Angst said. “The way the process worked, the federal government sent the money to the states, the states determined how that money would be used. The state determined that the counties would receive 25 percent of their amount.” For more on this story see Monday's LCR.
