Cannon York is living his dream at MU

Missouri redshirt sophomore Cannon York lined up for his first start with the Tigers last Saturday night in a rivalry game with the South Carolina Gamecocks for the Mayor’s Cup and played a career-high 15 snaps in a 17-10 win. York thought that was an incredible accolade he achieved, and then Tuesday happened. The former Lebanon Yellowjacket figured it would be just a typical day of team meetings before practice when head coach Eli Drinkwitz asked the players who recorded their first starts on Saturday to raise their hand. Of course, York did so, and then the first-year head coach singled York out to tell him the news that he would be put on scholarship for the University he has long coveted. “I really can’t describe my reaction,” he said in an interview with the media on Tuesday night. “If you ask the guys in the locker room, they will probably tell you I started bawling like a baby. “To me, that was one of the coolest things too, having my teammates jump on top of me and congratulate me and stuff. To see that excitement from them, too, means a lot to me. For more on this story see Saturday's LCR.
