Canceled Nashville race to be held at Lebanon I-44 Speedway

Most outdoor entertainment in the area has been called off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but a racing event is planned for May 30 at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Adam Mackey of Central Illinois Track Enterprises said an event planned for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway had been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Track Enterprises and Champion Racing Association have moved parts of the May 30 event to Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

He said Missouri is opening up to gatherings while parts of Tennessee are not to that point yet.

“We actually held a race (recently) in Pevely, Mo.,” he said. “We limited the number of tickets we sold so people could spread out and limited the number of pit passes so it wouldn’t be overrun with people and that went really well.”

He said there was extra hand sanitizer there and people were wearing masks.

“It was back to normal almost where people got to get out and do some things,” he said.

He said they were looking for a new venue for the Nashville events.

“We came across the I-44 idea and the promoter there, Brendon Willard, was highly excited about it because this is such a big event with some of the top series when it comes to late model racing, probably one of the bigger events the track has had, honestly,” Mackey said. “The excitement level’s been really high.”

The race scheduled in Nashville for May 30 was to feature the North/South Super Late Model Challenge 100, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock Series, Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series and Vores Compact Touring Series.

Track Enterprises will now be promoting a racing event on May 30 that will involve the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, and the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks at I-44 Speedway. The event will include a 125-lap season points opener for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, a 100-lap season points opener for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, and a 75-lap special non-points season opener for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks.

CRA competed at the three-eighths mile Lebanon I-44 Speedway oval five times from 2013 through 2017 with the Masters of the Pro’s special event for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. The last race, July 3, 2017 was won by two-time Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Late Model Track Champion, Cole Williams.

Limited grandstand and tier parking tickets for this blockbuster event, showcasing 300 laps of feature racing can be purchased online at i44speedway.net, cra-racing.com or trackenterprises.com.

The scheduled North/South Super Late Model Challenge 100 for Template Super Late Models at Nashville on May 30, that was to be tri-sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, the CARS Super Late Model Tour and the Southern Super Series, is suspended. Officials are working on suitable reschedule dates in Nashville.
