Billy Gene Bohannon passed away on December 24, 2024, at his home near Conway, MO.

Bill was born in Rader, MO on February 22, 1933, to William Jasper and Melissa Ann Hurt Bohannon. Bill attended Eureka School and graduated from Conway High School. He and Betty Sue Ikerd were married in 1953 and Bill was soon drafted into the army. He served as a member of the United States Army for two years at Ft. Hood, Texas. He and Betty Sue moved to Conway in 1955 and Bill served an additional six years in the National Guard.

Bill worked hard to provide for his family. He had 38-year career with the United States Postal Service, working more than 21 years as a rural letter carrier. He also raised Charolais cattle. He was a devoted founding member of Twilight Church and was also active in the Conway Volunteer Fire Department.

Bill is survived by his wife Betty Sue of the home and four sons, Danny (Regina), Dennis (Karen), Dale and Duane (Devita) Bohannon; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many others who became part of the family through the care and love of Bill and Betty Sue.

Farming and sign painting kept Bill busy in retirement but he always had time for visits from family and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Elsi (Bud) and Everett, and sisters Elizabeth Owens and Dorrlis Cunningham, and infant grandsons Jack and Ace.

Bill’s passing will be mourned by many and his presence will be missed in the Conway area and beyond. His spirit of love, care and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Day Funeral Home in Marshfield, MO. Funeral services will be on 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Day Funeral Home with the burial service following at Twilight Cemetery at Conway, Missouri. Memorial gifts may be made to the Twilight Cemetery.
