BETTY JEAN (CALTON) BROYLES

Betty Jean (Calton) Broyles, 95, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023.

She was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Wright County to Elza Martin and Edna Jones Calton.

On May 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arthur Dale Broyles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Donald Dean; her husband on Aug. 17, 1997; one brother, J. Wallace Calton and his wife Betty Joan; and one brother-in-law, Terry Stout.

After graduating from high school, she completed a teaching certificate and taught in a one-room school for a year. She spent many years working with the public starting with the University of Missouri Extension Office, MFA and finally retiring from Laclede Electric Cooperative. She also was a devoted and caring pastor’s wife for many years. More recently, she enjoyed volunteering at Hughes Senior Center until her health failed.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Dalene Reagan and her husband Maurice Howard Reagan; a sister, Dottie Lou Stout; her grandchildren, Bradley A. Reagan (Magda) and Jonathan D.W. Reagan (Charlene), who lovingly cared for her after her health failed; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Victoria and Maverick Reagan and Aiden Hall; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A graveside service and burial for Betty Jean (Calton) Broyles will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at Mount Rose Memorial Park with Craig Perry officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. until service time also on Sunday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
