The Lebanon City Council continued to discuss a possible vote on a 1/2 cent sales tax for city parks and stormwater projects at a work session meeting Thursday night.
The Council could vote on whether to place the proposal on the August election ballot at its next meeting Monday. The sales tax would replace the city property tax that now goes to city parks.
Finance Director Kat Gill said park revenue has been relatively flat and expenses could outpace revenue with the current property tax receipts.
Parks Director John Shelton said new funding will be needed to maintain the city’s parks.
“I’ve been telling everybody that this day was coming, that our revenues were not keeping pace,” he said.
