Annette Monroe, age 61, of Plato, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2026.
Born Karen Annette Lane on February 2, 1965, in Houston, Missouri, to Lloyd Edward and Charlann Marie (Hildebrand) Lane, Annette spent much of her youth down on the farm by Paddy Creek....running around, swimming in the creek, and helping in her grandparents’ massive annual garden alongside a host of loving cousins.
A dedicated public servant with a heart for helping others, Annette served for many years as a volunteer firefighter, Fire Chief, and EMS Chief, earning widespread respect for her leadership and selfless accomplishments. She also gave back to her community by volunteering with the Helping Hands clothing ministry at Roby Baptist Church. In her free time, Annette found joy in paint-pouring crafts, working outside planting flowers, and coloring.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Addis William “Bill” Monroe; and her sister, Gwendolyn Sweno.
She is survived by her loving children, Beau McMahon and Larenie Licausi; her sister, Lynette Schondel; as well as a cherished host of grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to Trent and Savannah Packer and Belinda Barker. Words cannot fully capture how grateful we are for the immense ways they stepped up, giving selflessly of their time, love, and support to care for Annette when it was needed most.
A visitation for Annette will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Roby Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Wes Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Palace Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston, Missouri
