Ann Owens, 77, of Lebanon, died early Thursday morning, March 4, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Springfield.
She was born May 24, 1943, in Waynesville, Mo. to Lee and Geneva Smith Rayl.
On July 7, 1961, she married Tuell Lee Owens, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 19, 2015; her parents; and two grandsons, Landon and David.
Ann was raised in the Lebanon area and then moved with her family to Hollywood, Fla. where she graduated from McArthur High School. She then returned to Lebanon, and began working at the Cora Anderson Nursing Home. When the home closed, she decided to go to nursing college and earned her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Eventually, she decided to open and operate Neighborhood Residential Home which she did for several years.
She had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended Hillcrest Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and later, Life Point Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy McClanahan and her husband Brent, and Rebecca “Becky’’ King and her husband Aaron, all of Lebanon; two sons, Raymond Owens and his wife Susan of Lebanon, and Thomas Owens and his wife Julie, of Rosedale, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Schultz and her husband Bill, and Julie Rayl-Gilstrap and her husband Stuart, all of Lebanon; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ann Owens will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with Pastor Stuart Gilstrap officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park in Lebanon, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be 1- 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A memorial to the Curry Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital Lebanon has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
