ALGERINA "ALGIE" PEARL EDWARDS

Algerina “Algie’’ Pearl Edwards, 92, of Columbia, formerly of Lebanon, died Monday, April 10, 2023, in Columbia.

She was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Plumboro, Pa. to Saturno and Domenica Maccagnan Gasperi.

On May 20, 1962, she was united in marriage to Howard Lee Edwards.

Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband and best friend, Howard Lee Edwards on Feb. 1, 2014; one grandson, Nathan Cornelison; and one son-in-law, Mike Torrence.

Algie was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family first. She loved tending to her flowers and visiting with her neighbors on the phone. She was an animal lover and had a special place in her heart for all the family fur babies. She enjoyed Italian food, especially spaghetti and hot wings. Her television was always set to channel 13. She wanted to make sure she was up on all story lines in her soap operas. However, of all the many things she enjoyed, time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, is what she treasured most. She loved them deeply and unconditionally.

Algie is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Cornelison and her husband Mark of Lebanon; Debbie McGinnis and her husband Patrick of Lebanon, and Stacie Anderson and her husband Jeff of Columbia; two sisters, Mary Bereznak and her husband Steve of Monroeville, Pa. and JoAnne Prosser and her husband Eugene of Bonita Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jamie and Joey Torrence, Matt Cornelison, Jordan McGinnis and his fiancée Luciana Lira and Caleb McGinnis, Chandler, Sydnee and Chase Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Mikah and Titus Torrence; sister-in-law, Hazel Harper of Chesapeake, Va.; special friends, C.J. Addison and Chris Taylor; other relatives and many friends.

A graveside service and burial for Algerina “Algie’’ Pearl Edwards was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Mount Rose Memorial Park with Ed Truelove officiating. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested to American Cancer Society or Paws & Claws Animal Adoption Center.
