ALBERT THOMAS “TOM’’ KINION

Albert Thomas “Tom’’ Kinion, 80, of Phillipsburg, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Truxton, Mo. to Kenneth and Bernice Anson Kinion.

On July 11, 1959, he married Mitzy Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Edward “Kenny’’ Kinion, and one great-granddaughter, Mikayla Lynn Kincheloe.

Tom worked for Mattingly’s Department Store for many years, transferring to several towns throughout the years, including Columbia, St. Joseph, Excelsior Springs, Fayette and eventually Lebanon. He was a wonderful athlete. In younger years, he was a baseball pitcher for AA Ball. He was also a wonderful bowler and part of the Wyota Inn bowling team. He also enjoyed farming and woodworking.

He was a longtime member of the Moravian Church.

Survivors include his wife Mitzy; one son, Scott Kinion and his wife Cathy of Lebanon; one daughter, Mary Parker and her husband Jeff of Springfield; five grandchildren, Tyler Rear and his significant other, Madi Milligan, Trevor Rear, Heather Kincheloe and her husband James, Hope Croak and her husband David and Michael Kinion and his wife Kristi; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Conner, Colby, Mack, Kwynn and Miles; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services for Albert Thomas “Tom’’ Kinion will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Michael Kinion officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Moravian Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until service time, also on Friday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. To sign guestbook online please visit shadelscolonialchapel.com. Under the guidelines of the CDC and the state of Missouri, the staff of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel ask that you observe social distancing and proper hygiene. Those guidelines will be monitored during this time to accommodate the family and their wishes.
