A woodworker for life

Winnipeg Custom Creations offers custom handmade furniture with a purpose

Posted
When Dewayne Baker retired from nearly 30 years of working mostly in construction, he turned his attention to building things of a smaller scale. Baker said he’s always built things out of wood like furniture, picnic tables and porch swings, but it wasn’t until he retired that he had the time to focus on woodworking as a business. Baker started Winnipeg Custom Creations LLC, named after the old town of Winnipeg in eastern Laclede Country. Not much of Winnipeg is left standing except an empty church building and cemetery along with the remains of what used to be the post office, closed in the 1950s. Baker said he enjoys creating things that are different. For more on this story see Saturday's LCR.
