A unique blend of music

When John Dorhauer was a student at LHS, the LHS band program was his niche.
He spent four years with LHS band director Keith Ruether and Heidi Drennan, marching for many hours and miles on area football fields.
He remembers the early morning marching before school each day and the heat in the summer band camps very well.
“I remember filling up plastic cups of water and putting it in the freezer overnight so I would have giant blocks of ice to put in my water cooler for the morning,” Dorhauer said.
He also remembers the cold late in the marching competition season and challenging himself by continuing to wear shorts to practice regardless of the cold weather.

Sixteen years after his 2003 graduation, band is still an important part of Dorhauer’s life.
However, the marching is long gone. His band is just 17 members strong.
And, of course, the name has changed.
The Heisenburg Uncertainty Players is the band Dorhauer, 34, formed in 2011 shortly after he realized he had enough material and musicians to form what is in music terminology still a big band.
