Wrestling team holds Black and Gold scrimmage

With plenty of fans in attendance, the Lebanon High School boys’ and girls’ wrestling team held their annual Black and Gold wrestle-offs on Tuesday night at Dr. Tom Luthy Fieldhouse to determine varsity positions.

Also in attendance were members of the Lebanon Stingers youth wrestling team who battled it out on the mat in front of the varsity coaches and players.

On the boys’ varsity side winners were Josiah Perryman (106), Hogan Fisher (113), Cole Patten (120), Hunter Lewis (126), Cole Roark (132), Reagan Mowery (138), Elijah Arl (145), Trevor Christian (152), Caleb Shields (160), Colt Adkins (170), Jake Henson (182), Jon Berry (195), Landen Smith (220), and Race Cottongim (285).

Also participating in the scrimmage were Andrew Dent, Jake Baker, Austin Johnson, Cael Schmitz, Terrell Mebruer, Hayden Dearborn, Robert Garner, Justice Nichols, Connor Thom, Duncan Gillenwater, Sam Cooper, Kaden Brown, Kael Ruble and Dominic Saffiote.

New to LHS athletics this winter will be a girls’ wrestling team that is considered a MSHSAA sport. The ‘Jackets’ girls’ lineup includes sophomore MaKenzie Gormley (103), sophomore Emily Young (110), sophomore Haven Marquez (116), junior Ashlynn Leochner (121), sophomore Rae White (126), freshman Quincey Glendenning (131), freshman Dream Cunningham (136), sophomore Amy Anderson (143), freshman Darby Neely (152), freshman Talora Frisbree (167), junior Bailey Shockley (187), and freshman Brianna Vorhees.

The Stingers who wrestled on Tuesday were Jake Rebmann, Caiden Crabtree, Cy Waterman, JJ Kline, Tripp Mitchell, Cason Hill, Gage Starnes, Tristan Petary, Reid Collins, Linkin Darnell,  Kainen Deckard, RJ Ellingson, Carter Sing, Cameron Williams, Memphis Harmon, Austin Johnson, Avery Starnes, Nick Allen, Bodie O’Neil, Kaige Gideon, Brody Barker, Devan Dame, and Kinnett Lucas.

The Lebanon High School girls’ team will open up their season on Thursday, Dec. 6 with a tournament at Dr. Tom Luthy Fieldhouse against Rolla, Waynesville and Nixa.

The boys’ first match will be next Tuesday, November 27 with a home dual against Jeff City at 5:30 p.m.
