Recent Lebanon High School graduates and former athletes will compete in the Grin Iron and Grin Action games in Springfield to support the Ronald McDonald House.

The 18th Annual Sertoma Grin Iron Classic is slated to be held Friday, June 7, at Parkview High School’s JFK Stadium in Springfield. Kickoff for this All-Star high school football game for Southwest Missouri will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Grin Iron Classic is part of the All-Star Weekend that takes place every year during the first weekend of June to benefit the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile (also known as the “tooth truck”), which provides dental treatment and dental hygiene education for local children in need.

Tickets for the event are $6 each and can be purchased at Springfield’s two Ronald McDonald Houses or at the gate. Kids ages six and under are free.

Representing the Yellowjackets in the football game will be Ty Glendenning, Jayden Ivey, Race Cottongim, and Malik Culp.

These four athletes were all critical components to a Lebanon football team that finished the year 9-3 and advanced to the Quarterfinals against Carthage.

Culp and Ivey were named to the Missouri Class 5 All-State teams in 2018 with Culp receiving honors as a 2nd team OL, and Ivey earned 3rd team RB and DB.

Cottongim was a mainstay on the ‘Jackets’ offensive line and played linebacker, recording 56 total tackles, finishing third, respectively.

Glendenning was the quarterback and finished the year with 775 passing yards in a triple option offense, and rushed for 473 yards and 15 touchdowns.

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, over 40 athletes from Southwest Missouri, selected and coached by a committed group of some of the best volleyball coaches in the area will compete in the 8th Annual GRIN ACTION CLASSIC All-Star High School Volleyball Tournament.

The ‘Jackets are coming off another 20-plus win season, and it was due in large part to the play of Skylyr Leake, Cori Johnson, and Taylor Bowling who will represent LHS in the prestigious game.

All three players were named to the Class 4 All-District 2nd team and Class 4 All-District Tournament 2nd team. Johnson earned All-Ozark Conference 1st team honors, Bowling received 2nd team honors, and Leake earned Honorable Mention All-OC.

The tournament will take place inside Parkview High School, and tickets for the event are $6 each, and can be purchased at Springfield’s two Ronald McDonald Houses or at the gate. Kids ages six and under are free.
