In a back-and-forth contest during the first set, the Lebanon varsity volleyball team held on to a two-set victory over the Springfield Central Bulldogs on Monday night in Boswell Auditorium, 26-24, 25-10.

Lebanon (14-7 overall, 3-1 Ozark Conference) got off to a shaky start in the first set, trailing 2-8 at one point before junior Bailey Hough put together six consecutive serving points to tie the game up at 11-11.

Later in the first set, the ‘Jackets trailed 21-23, but an ace from junior Avery Hays, and a couple nice points from the Lebanon offense helped prevail them to a first set victory.

In the second set, Lebanon lead 17-10 before winning eight straight points to secure the Ozark Conference victory.

Leading the way for Lebanon was senior Katie Esther with six aces, Hough had seven kills, Hays and Taylor Bowling each had 11 assists and Ellee Douglas added seven digs.

“We picked up a conference win, and while it wasn’t pretty, we found a way to get it done,” head coach Jenny Collins said. “We have continued work to be one to build team unity and play as a team.”

In the freshmen game, Lebanon defeated Central 25-5, 25-11, and in the JV game, Lebanon prevailed over the Bulldogs, 25-10, 25-18.

The ‘Jackets will host Rolla on Thursday for Pinkfest night and will host their annual Pinkfest tournament on Saturday.
