The Lebanon High School track and field team fared well at the Missouri Class 5 State Championships on Saturday at Battle High School in Columbia.

Total, the team qualified in 14 different events and had three state medalists and two new school records.

Junior Jenna Glendenning medaled for the third consecutive season in the 300m Hurdles after placing 5th with a time of 45.89 seconds. Winning the finals in the hurdles was sophomore Tyra Wilson from Columbia-Rock Bridge with a time of 42.35 seconds. Glendenning placed 11th out of 16 runners in the 100m Hurdles.

Senior Cameron Abel wrapped up one of the best Shot Put seasons in Lebanon history, taking 4th overall in the event with a mark of 52-06.25 and finished first in his respective heat. Abel spent just one season on the team but was an Ozark Conference champion and District champion.

Sophomore Derek Tucker performed well in the Discus throw, placing 6th with a mark of 160-06, and took first in his respective heat. The five throwers that finished ahead of Tucker all graduated, meaning he has a legitimate chance to become a State champion next spring.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Manny Del-Rio Vasquez, Tanner Roy, Cordell Zebel, and Zach Jamieson finished 7th in their respective heat but broke a school record with a time of 3:26.83.

Also breaking a school record was the girls’ 4x100 meter relay team of Maggie Mebruer, Jocee Pettyjohn, Kiara Waterman, and Glendenning. The relay team finished with an outstanding mark of 49.82 seconds.

Other state qualifiers included Kaelen O’Connor (100m, 200m dash), boys’ 4x200 relay team, Tyra Rogers (400m dash), girls’ 4x400m relay team, Abby Jackson (Discus), Mariah Mebruer (High Jump), and Skylyr Leake (Triple Jump).
