Golf team competing well in prestigious tournaments


The Lebanon High School golf team is coming off impressive finishes at some prestigious tournaments the past two weeks.

At the MSU Relays last week, Lebanon placed 2nd overall in the Class 4 group with a team score of 332, edging out Rockhurst by three strokes.

Glendale won the Class 4 group with a score of 314.

Lebanon senior and Drury golf signee Cooper Hess won the Class 4 group overall by carding a 73 and beat out Conner Obert from Glendale by one stroke.

On Monday, the ‘Jackets took first out of 21 schools competing at the Bolivar Invitational. As a team, Lebanon shot a 325, beating second-place Catholic by five strokes and third-place Rolla by six strokes.

Hess had another outstanding round by shooting a 73 to earn 2nd place, with senior and Drury golf signee Tryn Titus right behind him, carding a 76.

Grant Carr shot an 87 for the Yellowjackets, Houston Brackett scored an 89, and freshman Mason Bowman finished the round with a 92.

On Wednesday, Lebanon performed well at Old Kinderhook tournament, finishing 10th out of 27 teams.

Hess took 2nd overall, and Titus finished right behind him at 3rd overall out of 135 total golfers.

Lebanon is scheduled to be back in action on Monday when they travel to Waynesville for another chance to perform well at a quality tournament starting at 9 a.m.

On Tuesday, the ‘Jackets will once again be back in action, traveling to Osage to take on the Indians in a team-match that will be held at Osage National Golf Resort starting at 4 p.m.
