Here at the Laclede County Record, we’ve been blown away by the artistic abilities of our readers.

Since we launched the “Hit Us With Your Best Shot” summer photo contest at the beginning of this month, we’ve received a slew of amazing shots that perfectly portray summer in Laclede County. There have been a wide array of subjects in the pictures from cool cars and motorcycles to cute babies and kids — all soaking up the summer sun and having fun. We can’t wait to start sharing these photos with our Facebook followers when the voting begins next week. I hope that you’re just as impressed as we have been.

For those of you who haven’t had a chance to submit your summer photos yet, don’t worry, there’s still a little more time left. You still have until noon on Wednesday to submit a photo of your definition of summer fun. And don’t feel like you have to be an expert photographer to win. This is a contest where the content is just as important as the composition. Sure, we’ve seen some professional looking photos being submitted, but we’ve seen a lot of pictures that look like anything you’d find while scrolling through Facebook that are just as good in their own way.

In order to submit a photo (and have a chance of winning $50 and getting published in the newspaper), send a Facebook message with the picture and a description to our Facebook page, @LacledeCountyRecord. You can also email the picture and information to editor@laclederecord.com. Again, the deadline is noon on Wednesday. Good luck!

Voting will begin on Wednesday afternoon and go through Friday afternoon. We will post all of the entries on our Facebook page, and people will be able to vote by liking their favorite pictures. The photo with the most likes will be printed in the July 28 edition of the Laclede County Record.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted or plans to submit their summer photos and good luck next week when the voting begins. Hopefully, this contest is just the beginning of several that we offer to our readers. If you have any ideas for future photo contests, feel free to send us an email or Facebook message.
