Richard “Roy’’ Greer

Richard “Roy’’ Greer, 82, of Joplin, formerly of Lebanon, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 29, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in St. Catherine, Mo. to Theodore H. and Alberta Bartholomew Greer.
On Oct. 16, 1955, he married Lena May Triplett, who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1994. On June 14, 1997, he married Donna Butterfield Burkhart.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Keith and Merrell Greer, and a sister, Mary Alice Goodwin.

Richard “Roy’’ Greer was raised in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1951. He began working at the Detroit Tool Company where he continued to work for 48 years. He retired as Vice-President of Engineering in October of 2000. He then moved to the Neosho, Mo. area for several years.

Roy was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and had attended Hayes Street Church of Christ in Lebanon and the Burkhart Church of Christ in Roscoe, Mo. for the last several years. He had a deep, abiding faith in God.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; three sons, Lyndon Greer and his wife, Brenda, of Everton; Eldon Greer, of Lebanon, and Norman Greer, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jason and Autumn; a stepdaughter, Vera Morris and her husband, Bill, of Joplin; two stepsons, Roger Burkhart and his wife, Marti, of Neosho and Randall Burkhart and his wife, Jessie, of Neosho; nine step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sarah Greer, of Buckin, Mo.;  also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Richard “Roy’’ Greer will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Jimmy Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Friends may call at their convenience in the funeral home.
