Mildred Opal Grife, 94, of Lebanon, died Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Mercy Hospital Lebanon.
She was born April 17, 1925, in Barnes City, Iowa, to Sheldon Carlisle and Alice Irene Smith McClure.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles Snider, Russell Stout, James Junior Smith, Freeman Lillard and Vern Grife; a daughter, Marlyn Kay Murrell; two sons, Larry Snider and Stephen Stout; a brother, Howard, and a sister, Elaine.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Mildred worked as a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood as a manager in the payroll department for 20 years.
She was a longtime member of Mount Carney Christian Church where she enjoyed going to services for as long as her health allowed.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Essex, of Lebanon; a number of stepchildren, including Marlene, Karen, Lori and Lonnie Lillard; Russell, Mary, Robert, James, and Billie Grife; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, James McClure and his wife Dorislee, of Lynchburg; a sister-in-law, Anita McClure, of Nebo, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mildred Opal Grife will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Rhoades officiating.
Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to Mount Carney Church may be made through the funeral home.
